Today was one of the best days of my life. At approximately 7:28am, I met and held my daughter Emma Ashley Christensen for the very first time.
It is hard to put into words just exactly how I felt, but I do know the feeling was truly incredible, overwhelming, exciting and terrifying all that the same time.
At around 11pm on Monday night Belinda started getting contractions. I remember being in our media room around 5:15am and debating whether or not we go to the hospital. I took some photos of Belinda, however I got the feeling at the time (and probably even to this day) she didn’t really appreciate me taking them. So we’ll leave them out of this article I think.
We waited for about an hour before deciding it was time to head to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital around 6:30am and just in time because we were told that we got the last available room. It was lucky that we did because Emma wasn’t waiting. Almost as soon as we had settled into the room Emma was born. She popped out at 7:28am on Tuesday, 23rd February 2010, weighing 3840 grams or 8 pounds 7 ounces in the old scale.
Everything went really smoothly, I think I handled it all quite well 🙂 The doctor allowed us to go home that same day and by about 3pm we were showing Emma her new digs.
