Emma’s 11th Birthday

Emma’s 11th Birthday

This weekend we celebrated Emma’s 11th birthday. On Saturday we had a party at Milne Bay, where she invited a few of her friends for a swim. After the party, Emma had 4 friends stay over the night. They camped out in the front yard in a tent. Ryan managed to escape to one of his friends’ house for a sleepover, so the testosterone levels were a little low in the house that night. We hope you had a wonderful…

Emma & Ryan’s Tree House

Emma & Ryan’s Tree House

Over the weekend, Emma and Ryan came to me with a grand idea. Build a treehouse in the backyard. At first the kids had some grand ideas about the size and functionality of their treehouse. That was before I told them they would need to help build it. One (unsuccessful) plan involved multiple storeys and a subterranean tunnel system into a basement. So after much discussion and a little bit of compromise, we decided on building a simple little platform…

Emma the Artist!

Emma the Artist!

Emma has always shown a keen interest in drawing, right from a very young age. Lately, she has been studying youtube tutorials on how to draw, and here are some examples of her artwork. Emma made me the Koala, Belinda the cat and Ryan the penguin. I think these are absolutely awesome, especially for her first attempt at these characters. Well done Emma! Can’t wait to see some more. Love Dad

Emma’s 10th Birthday

Emma’s 10th Birthday

Today was a big birthday for Emma as she is now into double digits! The big one, zero. Well, truth be told, I might have made a bit more of it than she did. The realisation that your child is growing up, and doing so so quickly, is one that I imagine most parents go through. Similarly, like me, they probably wish they could both slow time down a bit, but are also excited to watch their child grow into…

First Day of School 2020

First Day of School 2020

The new school year has started today! For Declan, this is his final year of school, which is exciting, a little scary and hard to believe all at the same time. Emma is going into Year 5 this year. She is in a composite class of Year 5 and 6, with only three other grade 5 students. She seemed nervously excited of the unknown of what the day will bring. I’m sure that she will quickly get over her nerves…

Christmas 2019 Lights at Queens Park

Christmas 2019 Lights at Queens Park

Tonight we went to the Christmas lights in the park event. Emma was dancing her routine in the park at 7:15pm. There were some technical difficulties which ran the event about half an hour late. We picked up a free ice-cream for the kids from Home Ice-Cream which was really good. It is hard to find anything these days that are truly free. As usual, the light display certainly didn’t disappoint. There were some amazing candle like lights that gave…

Emma’s 9th Birthday

Emma’s 9th Birthday

Emma turns 9 today! We had the usual opening of the presents at the crack of dawn. It was pretty good this year as we were already awake due to Belinda getting up to go to Parkrun. Here is a short video of Emma opening her presents. Excuse the Dad humour (it was early). We then headed down to Highfields Pool for her birthday party. The pool was a pretty good location for the party. The kids enjoyed themselves in…

Newtown 2018 School Photos

Newtown 2018 School Photos

Here we are, almost half way through the year, in May, and it only feels like the kids have just gone back to school. Well, this was my first thought when we received our school photos this week. The year really feels like it is flying by. Emma is enjoying being in a composite class this year, and I think it is really helping her to achieve her full potential. She has been given harder challenges, and is managing them…
