Holidaying on the Gold Coast is one of our favourite holiday spots. We often travel here for sports events or just to have some fun at the beach.
Here are some of the stories, photos and shared memories from our holidays to the Gold Coast, Australia

Goodbye Ashmore Palms

Goodbye Ashmore Palms

Sadly, today was our last day of holidays. We say goodbye to our little holiday home at Ashmore Palms. Despite the constant fighting from Emma and Ryan trying to kill each other, the holiday was fairly relaxing and enjoyable. We definitely are going to miss being able to go to the pool everyday. Last night we went out to dinner at the Ashmore Tavern. It was just a short walk around the corner, so we set off on foot. We…

Disco Night

Disco Night

Today was a big day! We started it off with some Timezone fun. The place has had some changes since we were there a year ago. The kids had the most fun on the motorbike game. Declan laid done a basketball challenge to me. I chose red and he chose green. The first game I won (red 109, green 94). So of course he wanted a rematch cause he reckoned that there was something wrong. I went a bit easier…

Morning tea with the Mermaids

Morning tea with the Mermaids

Today we had the kids activities down by the pool. Unfortunately, the mermaids didn’t turn up. We still had fun holding Princess, the cockatoo. The staff at Ashmore Palms said she could be about 30 years old. The oldest living cockatoo of her species is an amazing 125 years old, and that most captive birds with the right diet and care will usually live up to a 100 years old. The staff here are really great. They came over to…

New years day Parkrun

New years day Parkrun

We welcomed in this new year with some more parkrun fun. Just when we thought it couldn’t be anymore fun, we were “pleasantly” surprised by being able to do TWO parkruns on the same day, one right after the first. Even though the kids were “super keen” to do park run and there was no fighting, complaining or whinging, for some reason they didn’t protest when I decided to not do the second and just let Belinda and Declan have…

New Years Eve

New Years Eve

Ashmore palms were offering a free shuttle bus service to southport to see the fireworks and new years eve concert, so we decided to go and check it out. The fireworks were at several locations throughout the Gold Coast this year. This was our first time seeing the fireworks on the gold coast, so we didnt really know what to expect or where to be for the best views. There was quite a large crowd, which we expected, but it…

Face painting

Face painting

Today’s activity was face painting and colouring in. Emma got a dolphin and ryan a dinosaur. We went back to Pacific fair shopping center to pick up a few things and then headed back to the apartment to get ready for our new years eve fireworks.

Sand Art

Sand Art

One of the reasons we decided to come back to Ashmore Palms is it is a very family oriented holiday park. Not only are there the birds to see, there is a different kids club activity on each day. Today the kids were doing sand art. Here is a photo of the kids with their art works. We had a visit from Grandma for lunch so we went down to the pool for a swim. Once Grandma left we chilled…

Night markets

Night markets

We arrived at Ashmore Palms for our holiday and checked into our home for the next 9 nights. We had prebooked the free shuttle bus to the night markets which left at 5.00pm and returned us at 8.30pm. The kids used some of their pocket & christmas money to buy a few things, as it was madly burning a hole in their pockets since we left home. Here are a few photos of the night.

Gold Coast Marathon 2019

Gold Coast Marathon 2019

Belinda and Lorraine are running in the Gold Coast Marathon this year, so we stayed on the Gold Coast for the weekend. We found a cool little place called Ashmore Palms. It is a very family friendly holiday park with a bit of a difference. There are a number of feathered residents that the kids found particularly interesting. I was surprised to learn just how expensive some of these birds are. We were told by the park operator that one…
