With only 84 days to go we have booked in our accommodation for our next New Zealand trip. We fly in on Good Friday, which also happens to be Ryan’s 6th birthday. We got a pretty good deal on our flights considering we are flying in over the school holidays this time. Definitely not as cheap as the last flights but still not too bad considering we have an extra two passengers. Our flight from Brisbane leaves at 6:30am and gets into Auckland at around 12:30pm local time. We then pickup our soccer mum car (Toyota Tarago or similar) from the rental place for the next two weeks and head straight to Lake Taupo.
We will drive straight to Taupo on the Friday and should get to the hotel late in the afternoon around 6pm. The southern part of the lake in Turangi, in the Turangi Leisure Lodge, is where we are staying. This location will be used as a central point for making day trips, to the likes of Rotorua, Te Puke etc. There are some great hiking trails around the lake, and Belinda is particularly excited about there being hot thermal pools again. After 7 nights at Turangi we head north to the Bay of Island. Paihia to be exact.

We are staying in Club Paihia at Paihia for another 7 nights, and will use this time to do a bit more relaxing and just soaking up our surroundings. We hope to catch up with my family at some point during this week, but there really isn’t going to be a lot of planning or activity…other than relaxing and enjoying some down time.
We then head back to Auckland on Friday the 13th before flying out the same day later that night. We are all pretty excited to be going back to New Zealand again, especially so soon. It will be a good experience for the kids to see the difference between the two islands and especially having Declan coming along for the first time.
