Lego Man Toilet Roll Holder
I was looking for something new to print when I came across this awesome over-sized lego man toilet roll holder on thingiverse.
Overall I’m fairly pleased with how it turned out. It was quite difficult to find a “normal” yellow filament. Most of the yellow filaments I found seemed to be fluorescent yellow. The one I ended up with was TwoTrees Yellow PLA filament, which although it didn’t look fluorescent in the description, it still has a fluorescent look to it. It is a long way from the traditional lego minifig yellow, but for this project it doesn’t matter too much to me.
This was also the very first time I created part of the 3D model from scratch. The original item on thingiverse, only had a basic smiling face and I thought it would be fun to have the face look like it was holding it’s breath. So I sketched up the face in Adobe Illustrator and imported it onto the 3D model head I created in Fusion 360. Fusion 360 was surprisingly very easy to use and I think I will start investing some time into using it more.
I glued the body and the legs together and left the head and hair replaceable. I’m planning on changing it throughout the year for different calendar events, like Halloween, Christmas and Easter.
Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas of what face/head I should do next.
